She's back and headed west
Another couple weeks with no words from yours truly - sorry. It's been a trying time, but in the end, not as bad as it might have been. My little Penny has been very un-well...passing out when she would get really excited. She's had a heart murmur since she came into my life, and has been on meds, but it's become progressively worse, to the point I was afraid she wouldn't make it home for Christmas. And I simply was not ready to lose another doggie at Christmas (like I did last year when Bailey passed on unexpectedly)!
So - I arrived in Ft. Lauderdale to visit my dear old pal's Blair and Leslie, from Hawaii days, and practically moved into their vet's office! After lots of tests, including wearing a heart monitor for a week, it seems she has something called Sick Sinus Syndrome. We've started a new med for that, and are now crossing our fingers.
Meanwhile I had a great couple weeks staying with Blair and Les and their two four-legged friends J.D. (for 'Just Dog') and Prissy. I was able to park my RV at their place, and was welcomed into their guest house! (this is NOT their guest house, unfortunately!)
I've discovered that I really like the St. Augustine area - the history, the varied architecture in this "Ancient City", certainly the weather! They'll probably see me again!
Anyway, I'm now on the road again, heading west, and hoping to arrive in time for Christmas. Gonna be tight - it's a long haul. Time will tell.

St. Augustine to Tallahassee, Florida
211.6 miles
211.6 miles
Mostly cloudy
After filling the prescription for my pup, I headed out. Was delighted to see a "Turtle Crossing" sign - an official one yet!
I was surprised to see a lot of cattle as I headed west.
Was surprised, too, when I crossed the Suwannee River. Had to look it up - indeed it is the river in the song we all know - Swanny River. All this time I thought it was Swanny. Shows how much I know!
Arrived near Tallahassee to dark, heavy overcast and wind. The night brought lightning and thunder and heavy rain and tornado warnings. And the morning dawned crystal clear and cold. Wild night!
